I spent 11 years living in Sydney from 2001.
After completing studies at a local business school and graduate program, I worked for five years at an Australian-owned accounting firm, where I also obtained permanent residency (since relinquished).
My role covered a wide range of responsibilities, including tax planning and compliance (such as superannuation), financial and management accounting, cash flow management, and the preparation of individual tax returns for clients.
In 2012, I returned to Tokyo and joined a leading advertising agency, where I worked in global finance for seven years.
During the first half of my time there, my work involved:
– Financial, management, and tax reporting to both the Japan headquarters and the U.S. parent company in New York
– Oversight of the subsidiary in China
– Participation in global quarterly financial meetings and shareholder meetings
– Cross-functional coordination between departments such as HR, IT, General Affairs, Accounting, and Sales, including support for expatriates
– Compliance work related to IFRS and global reporting through ERP systems
In the latter half, I focused on:
– Leading negotiations for the formation of a Japan
–U.S. joint venture, reviewing contracts, and liaising with legal counsel
– Project management, including the establishment of a Japanese legal entity
– Preparing for the smooth onboarding of expatriates
Working directly under the CFO, I was also involved in addressing various global matters as they arose.
At the end of 2018, I left the company to start my own venture.
In 2019, I established Zen.O Inc.
